Armenian language

The Armenian language is one of the most ancient languages in the world, it is a root language in the Indo-European language family. Nowadays the Classical Armenian language (ancient Armenian grabar is a written language) is used in divine service only. The Modern literary Armenian language has two basic branches: the East-Armenian language which is spoken by the inhabitants of Armenia and the Armenians who live in the other countries of CIS and Iran; and the West-Armenian language which is spoken by the Armenians who were born and who live in the Western Armenia (nowadays occupied by Turkey). The Armenian alphabet that was lost in the beginning of the fourth century was restored and put into practice again by the educator, scientist and monk Mesrop Mashtots in 405 year of our era.

Greek language

The Greek language is the language that is spoken in the Aegean area since its formation (a branch of the Indo-European parent language). This language is a result of the migration of the Greek tribes from east in the beginning of the II millennium before Christ till now. Being a branch of the Indo-European language family, Greek is cognate to the other languages in Europe and out of its bounds (first of all, to Armenian, Persian and Sanskrit). The word Greek originates from the name of one of the least influential Greek tribes (Graikoi, lat. Graeci) and it was used outside of Greece since the times of Ancient Rome. During the greater part of the history the Greeks had called themselves Hellenes, the country - Hellas, and the language - Hellenic.

Chinese language

The Chinese language is one of the most ancient languages in the world. Every 5th inhabitant of the Earth speaks Chinese. Almost one and a half of billion people speak it in China, and some parts of the population in Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Burma, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and etc speak it too. There are special signs in the Chinese writing - hieroglyphs. Many hieroglyphs remain unchanged more than 2000 years. The Chinese hieroglyphs are also used in Japan and Korea. Interesting is that almost half of the websites in the Internet are in Chinese.

Slavic language

Slavic languages are the group of languages that belong to the Indo-European language family which is spoken by more than 440 million people in the East Europe and in the Northern and Central Asia. Thirteen Slavic languages that exist today can be divided in the three groups: the East Slavic that includes Russian, Ukrainian and Belarus; the West Slavic that includes Polish, Czech, Slovak, Kashubian (the north of Poland) and two Lusatian languages – Upper-Lusatian and Lower-Lusatian, (the east of Germany); the South Slavic group includes: Serbo-Croatian (Yugoslavia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina), Slovene, Macedonian and Bulgarian languages. Moreover there is Old-Slavic – the language of the first Slavic translations of the Scripture which has one of the ancient Southern Slavic dialect at the bottom, and which was used in divine service in the Slavic orthodox church, but was never used as a daily spoken language.

Hebrew language

Hebrew is the language of Jews, existing more than three thousands years. The oldest literal memorials of Hebrew, preserved with biblical traditions, date back to 12 or 13 centuries BC. Hebrew is of Semitic origin. Phoenician and Ugaritian are more close to Hebrew, all belonging to the Canaanian branch of Semitic group of languages. Semitic group of languages is also one of the branches of Semito-Camitic family of languages, which as well belong to Egyptian languages, Berber (North Africa), Kushid (Ethiopia, Somalia and territories of neighborhood) and Chad languages (North Nigeria, North Cameroon, Chad).
